Job-Tier and Program Architecture Design for Building MBD Talent
To support enterprise-wide rollout of Model-Based Development (MBD), we drew on case research at leading peer companies to design job tiers and a development structure tailored to the client's MBD talent and developed the roadmap.

To support enterprise-wide rollout of Model-Based Development (MBD), we drew on case research at leading peer companies to design job tiers and a development structure tailored to the client's MBD talent and developed the roadmap.
- Leading-company case research: We researched MBD (Model-Based Development) initiatives at a range of leading manufacturers in Japan and overseas. We analyzed initiatives around talent development, program organization, and evaluation systems, distinguishing common practices from company-specific approaches.
- Target talent profile and MBD program architecture: Drawing on the client's existing engineer job-tier definitions and peer-company examples, we defined the target "MBD talent job tiers" tailored to the client (from junior layer through fellow). We also defined the organizational structure and development methods required to deliver talent development.
- Roadmap development: We developed the roadmap for talent development, organizational structure build-out, and enterprise-wide rollout. We structured the anticipated challenges in enterprise-wide rollout and proposed response strategies as working hypotheses.
[Challenges]
- The client needed to apply Model-Based Development (MBD) as an enterprise-wide initiative and reduce product-development lead times.
- Drawing on peer-company practices, defining the MBD talent skill set, evaluation methods, and the program organization that would develop this talent was an urgent priority for the client.
[Results]
- We defined the target MBD job tiers and program architecture tailored to the client.
- We developed the roadmap for talent development, organizational structure build-out, and enterprise-wide rollout.
